Tomorrow is April fools day but what will not be a joke is the fact that the EPA will put into effect the ruling that CO2 is now considered a dangerous
pollutant. That's right, take a breath and you're spewing dangerous pollution. Open a can of Diet Coke and watch those bubbles of mass destruction
come roaring out as you pour it into your cup. What this really does is give the EPA the power to regulate any business that emits CO2 whenever and however it sees fit. I can't help but think of grandpa Simpson convulsing on the church floor in the Simpson's movie screaming "Epa, Epa!". If you live in an area
where your electricity is being generated with coal, oil or natural gas you may find yourself on the floor screaming "EPA, EPA!" the next time you get
your electric bill.
Here's the strange thing about all this. The Obama administration actually doesn't want to do this but they have to in order to get what they
want. Having the EPA regulate CO2 will be very bad for the economy as they have no concern about market economics. So what exactly does Obama want?
In case you didn't notice back almost a year ago the congress passed a Cap and Trade bill that sets to regulate CO2 through a system of carbon
tax trading. They believe this is what we need to do to save the environment, promote alternative energy and make the rest of the world love us.
The problem they have though is that Democratic senators from coal producing states and states that get most of their electricity from coal are
unwilling to vote for this bill. As a result the bill has sat stalled in the Senate for almost a year and the President has been unable to do
anything about it. Until now.
So why have these Democrat senators who support global warming been unwilling to support this bill? It's very simple, Obama has stated,
"under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket".
These senators know that if electricity rates
skyrocket in their states they stand no chance of getting reelected and will lose every dime of campaign money from the utilities and coal
What Obama has given them now is an out. Once the EPA starts imposing massive fees on coal power pants and electric costs skyrocket the senators
can now make the case that passing Cap and Trade will lower their electric rates from the now sky high costs. They had no choice but to choose the
lesser of two evils. What Obama has done is given you the choice between an $300 electric bill or a $200 electric bill. The choice to keep the $100 electric bill you have now is simply taken off the table.
So hold your breath starting at midnight tonight or you may feel the wrath of the EPA when you exhale all that dangerous pollution.
