I really don't understand how people can still be denying the existence of climate change. How much solid scientific evidence is it going to take before these people stop denying what most people know to be true. There may be some people who still believe the earth is flat and is also the center of the universe but most people who have graduated from high school know the earth is round and goes around the sun.
The vast majority of us are also pretty sure that at a number of times in the past a large part of what is now Canada and the United States was covered by a miles thick layer of ice. They also are pretty sure that at various points in time the earth was so warm that very little ice existed anywhere on the planet.
What is truly bizarre is that the same people who are certain that their have been ice ages and extreme warm periods thousands and thousands of years ago are also convinced that man kind is now capable of stopping these changes forever. These are the climate change deniers, with Al Gore, the UN and the EPA being the holy trinity of the climate change denial religion.
Take a moment to stop and think about that. Despite the fact that humans have only been on the planet in any signficant numbers for about 5,000 years we are supposed to believe that we are somehow the only reason that climate change will occur in the future. If it gets colder it will be our fault, warmer, same thing. The answer they give for all this is that giving them the ability to regulate(tax) carbon will somehow give them access to the global thermostat.
This is the greatest scam every conceived in human history. The plan is to force people to pay for their creation of CO2 through a global exchange of carbon credits. Nowhere in this scheme is there any chance of the total global amount of CO2 being released into the atmosphere being reduced dramatically. Even if you are convinced that CO2 emmissions will eventually cause violent climate change that cannot be reversed(which I don't) their plan does nothing to address that.
Like every great scam this one is about one thing, money. It is tremendously ironic that this movement is best known as the "Green" movement. It's all about going green. It's really all about shifting where the green is going, from the US to the rest of the world and from the current energy suppliers to the new green energy suppliers. It is no coincidence that since losing the 2000 presidential election Al Gore's net worth has grown to the 100's of millions range.
There is no greater alliance of science, government, industry and media than the global giant that is NBC Universal and GE. GE's business model is based on government mandates and subsidies boosting demand for the various green energy products they manufacture from CFL bulbs to solar panels and wind turbines. They have coupled with the government to promote their green agenda through a variety of direct and embedded green messages inserted into NBC and Universal TV programming. What type of conclusion do you think you will get from a group of scientists given a climate change research grant from GE?
Let me ask you all one simple question. What do you think is a smarter usage of our money, spending trillions to attempt to control the climate or to invest in infrastructure that is able to withstand a changing climate? What will we do if we spend all those trillions of dollars attempting to control the climate and in the end in it ends up changing anyway. Having spent all of our resources we will be powerless to adapt and survive.
Given what I have read as the goal of many of these radical environment groups this may be exactly what they are hoping for. Reducing the global population by 80% to no more than 500 million people is the stated goal of those who believe in a steady population sustainable future under a global government.
